My son had shown me pictures from friends earlier that was supposedly the shooter in progress, which I dismissed in my head as probably just random pictures. Then Bill Nelson just came on and said he was wearing a gas mask, and the pictures he showed me earlier was a kid with a gas mask. Ugh. Kids were talking pictures of the shooter.
I think I need to go read my book and get off the news.

Oh, God, Laura. What an utter nightmare. I just finished reading an interview with another kid who also knew him and also wasn't surprised, and had spent the last couple of years strenuously avoiding him because the prospect of any kind of open conflict with this guy terrified him.
And I know nothing, nothing, nothing will change.

Fuck the guns in this culture. And fuck this culture we have that thinks it's a totally normal and acceptable response, if you happen to be a dude, to kill a fuckton of people just because you got butthurt about something.
I want the guns gone, and I don't give a fuck about sport shooting or hunting or any of the excuses that the NRA makes. Those are the acceptable cover for their power tripping. (And they're a lobbyist for the sellers, not the gun users, anyway. They care about selling more guns, not anyone's so-called rights.)
But even more, I want the culture to say NO FUCK YOU THAT IS NOT AN OKAY WAY TO BE PISSED OFF. USE YOUR FUCKING WORDS. OTHER CULTURES HAVE SAID "OH SHIT NO WE CAN'T KEEP GOING DOWN THIS PATH". We keep... not.
