Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Is today Maria and Pix birthday day? I hope both are happy, even if you're celebrating apart.

I learned an interesting thing--there are two different types of flu--the respiratory kind is the one that seems to be felling people left and right, the one the shot works for, mostly.

The other kind is gastric, and there's no shot for that. Guesss which one I've been dancing with for 2-3 weeks? After years of being told, "Flu is respiratory. If your digestion is messed up, it's probably food poisoning." Having revised food handling, hand washing and counter and container cleanliness, I doubt this is food poisoning. Three days of H's magic chicken rice soup, two days of normal-ish diet, a day of BRAT, chicken soup, rinse, repeat. Where're my damn food pills?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I believe people just say stomach flu when they mean norovirus or whatever. It's not influenza.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Yes, there's no "stomach flu." Like Jesse said, it can be norovirus, or gastroenteritis, or some other nasty bug. Not actually flu, though. So unfortunately, no vaccine.

And I can't log into Travel Services. I guess it doesn't use the single sign on. I sent them an email requesting help so hopefully they'll get back to me tomorrow.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

We have been struck by something akin to the "stomach flu." It has been... unfun. Both kids have now had it and M had something similar last weekend. I have a busy week of work when I'm supposed to be in classes all day every day, which of course means I will no doubt come down with it tomorrow.

To end on a happier note: all good birthday wishes to Maria & Pix!

brillig

I went to H&R Block to do the taxes, then I played with paying off the big bills to see what would be left to play with. I can do my big birthday shopping trip to Ikea tomorrow, and if I can beat down the brain Puritans enough, I can do a trip to Key West next February to visit the ocean and see cool shit. A couple of thousand dollars is not really going to make that big a deal in my longterm retirement plans, but a chance to hear the ocean again will do wonders.
