I signed up to be the match back in my twenties and never got pinged. I'm glad I tried but so far there has been no need for me to undergo the extraction procedure. I was thinking it might be my contribution to humanity instead of reproducing.

Can I just say what a scam Amazon free shipping is? I mean, I know this is obvious, but it was really sent home to me when I ordered two small things from the same company and then added something totally different to get to the free shipping level. They are being sent in two packages. Their actual shipping costs at least doubled! And yet they got me to buy more from them for the deal.

Only their variable costs doubled, contracts with UPS or FedEx or whoever may make the marginal increase in cost pretty slight.

Our Dog will do that too, but he weighs 100 lbs. Last weekend my son got trapped under him pretty literally.

I think what they're going to do is an autologous stem cell/bone marrow transplant, so he doesn't need to find a donor.
It's still going to be miserable -- harvest the stem cells from his blood marrow, undergo a round of high-dose chemo that not only gets at the cancer but wipes out his blood marrow, then get the stem cells re-infused to grow all-new marrow, which will get to work growing and circulating all-new blood.
He'll have to be in the hospital for at least 3 weeks because until the stem cells are done settling in and regrowing he'll essentially have no immune system at all (especially now, on the downslope of a horrendous flu season).
My supervisor at work is undergoing the same process for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma right now; she's in the hospital for at least the next month and probably not back at work until fall (she's still working from the hospital, because she said that working out solutions to all of UC's usual bureaucratic nonsense will keep her from lying in her bed and stewing about worse things).
Jesse the thing that gets me is I feel like lately even when I order something via Prime, it may come with two day shipping but it feels like how long it takes to ship is totally variable! I've ordered three things at the same time and got one Monday and one Wednesday!
