BIL called a little while ago. It's definitely active multiple myeloma. Baby brother spent the day having his port inserted, and tomorrow the chemo starts. Bone marrow transplant in the near future.
His doctors (he's at Mt. Sinai in NYC, which has the best long-term survival rates on the East Coast and possibly in the entire US) are hopeful and telling them both not to rule out an actual cure (BIL said, "A cure for an incurable cancer. Can they do that?"), but they are still both gutted. I have to call my mom to check in on how she's doing.

{{JZ and family}} The doctors are right to present hope. There are many examples of people beating the odds, and he is where they have the latest and greatest. He is also not delaying treatment despite the personal loss of seeing the games, which must be hard, but for the best. Lots of ~ma and positive vibes and prayers headed out.
