Oh, yeah, he's going to back to his congregation and be hailed as a martyr and valiant warrior for the Lord after he gets banned from teaching. It's those godless liberal Californians, you know.

So there will need to be some reassuring that she did the right thing in bringing the paperwork to us right away, that this is someone who needs to be in trouble and needs to not be teaching
I wonder if this is something you could tie into the women's march -- being smart and brave and strong and doing the right thing to make sure that people are safe. (Look, you 2 are fantastic parents, so I don't need to offer ideas. The connection just occurred to me, though.)
Also, it's never too soon to start learning, "You did not get him in trouble; he got himself in trouble because of his actions."

No, that's really helpful.

That one too!
This guy is so fucking busted. He used Instagram to lure kids to the ice cream shop for free ice cream and recruit them.
What. The. Fuck. Please keep us updated.
None of this is on Matilda. In fact, she's a superhero who is saving other kids who might have been afraid to say something. She didn't force him to do what he did, but she's helping to make sure he never does it again.
Part of her anxiety is that she didn't come to us to bust him, she just brought the permission slip for the Presidents Day Weekend camp he pitched to them.
Though, come to think of it, she did just hand it to me without a word -- no "Please can I go?/I want to join this club!/You NEED to sign this!", just wordlessly handing it over. So possibly she already had concerns she couldn't articulate.

I am going to echo Maria. I am flabbergasted and appalled!

The permission slip thing makes it worse- would some parents just sign thinking it was from the school. It would be bad enough if he just invited them and gave them a brochure! This whole thing is so creepy.
Busting people doesn't mean she has to pop up and say, "A-ha! I've nabbed you, you dastardly devil!" Busting people can mean you just hand information over to other people who are in a better position to do the nabbing. She did the hard work of giving you the slip, even if she had reservations. Otherwise, she could have sat on it and pretended it didn't exist.

This. She doesn't have to be the avenger leading the charge (in fact, I'd say that she *shouldn't* be), but she did help, and that means other kids in her school are going to be safe.
