I'm working volunteer management for a small con this weekend. It is called HexaCon and is all about gaming. Role playing games, card games, board games... The game library is HUGE! It is the first year for this con and they have had 200 registrations so far. Not too shabby.
I am doing extremely tedious online training modules so I can qualify to be a substitute teacher.
Do you have headphones? DH uses his beats when he needs to concentrate.
It's sort of weird to have a govt shutdown actually impact my work & life. If by midnight, I'm likely going to have to work next Saturday;if still on by midnight Sunday, it's work as usual, the whole exercise will be rescheduled. Still get paid & all, we're indirect. And we're trying to schedule phone screens, so I had to tell hr to wait until Monday to even think about scheduling.
I do, but they don't make the slide-and-voiceover-reading the exact-words-on-the-slide any more interesting.
It also means that for the average person with an expected work week of 50 hours - at least. 20 percent of their time is unproductive.
Reading this after my quarterly goals review meeting where part of the reason I got 90% on my review was because my boss felt I could be more productive - that there are swings in my productivity where I don't get a lot done, and then weeks where I produce a huge amount of work - really hits home.
To be all me me me: I'm on the bipolar spectrum, and in me it manifests as cycles of Doing All The Things, followed by cycles of Ugh Nope Can't. I need to talk to my psych about adjusting my meds. But I'm tired and stressed, I don't want to cope with anything, and I had a meltdown last night after the meeting so now I'm dealing with the crying hangover.

The 1995 government shut down resulted in me getting laid off due to no access to funds to pay me. good times
