Seriously. I have no idea how that town is sustaining that whole industry.
Slow day, my co-workers are making spaceship noises and critiquing each other. "You call that a tractor beam? That's microphone feedback."
Eight-hour work days are just too dang long. Five hours is all I can do before my brain starts to rebel and shut down.
Agreed
Coworker: You changed this thing.
Me: I don't think so. I checked recent emails, and I don't see anything about it, but I wouldn't have changed it without direction.
Coworker: I really don't think it should be changed so you should make a note that we want to ask our manager about it on Monday because blah blah blah.
Me, mentally: *I* don't give a shit.
Me, verbally: I'll see what I can find.
Me: The previous two builds have also had his terminology you claim has changed, which would be why I couldn't find anything recent about it.
Coworker: Wow, manager and I have always agreed we would never use that word and blah blah blah I'm going to go ask her right now.
Me: I could be taking a nap right now.

I feel like science is on your side here, and I've read studies about how the standard 40-hour work week is too many hours for most humans to be productive. Or maybe I just wish that science said this?
IT. powered off one of our systems without much warning and then all went to a meeting before turning it back on after finishing the power work.
I'm unamused.
I remember reading something science-y that claimed people over 40 shouldn't work more than 30 hours a week. I'm going with that.
