this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I did a short little workout (inside, because it is 9 degrees in the tundra outside my front door), washed the dishes, and did a load of sheets so we can flip the mattress and start 2018 with clean sheets. Now I have a handful of work to get out of the way before tomorrow.

This is better than all those New Year's Days in my 20s and early 30s that I spent hungover as hell, regretting my poor choices.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I went out to feed the outside cats (who are doing fine, despite my worries, with their covered boxes full of straw) and give inside-cat Leo a few supervised minutes on the catio. His romp was cut short because FREEZING. Sorry, yowly furry boy, I don't have a fur coat and a high metabolism.

I used the brief almost-warm hour last Saturday to get in groceries. Now I don't have to leave the house for a week. Except to feed cats.

I rewarded myself with takeout from Tacos 4 Life Grill. Results: grilled mahi-mahi not worth getting (other restaurants do much better fish tacos, including Outback steakhouse), mango habañero chicken very tasty, guacamole the best I've had that wasn't made fresh tableside.

paid an overdue bill from the remaining funds on this gift card thing.

Now cancelling an old flip phone I had on our account for when I have to take away mac's phone as punishment. That's $20/mo savings going forward.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Happy New Year, Buffistas!!

I spent the weekend catching up with old friends and playing Jan-May of Pandemic Legacy Season 2. (When we played Season 1 with these friends, we lived next door and played more or less one game each month. Now that we're 3 hours away, we managed to cram 8 games - Feb and Mar we had to play twice, plus the prologue tutorial round - into a day and a half!)

It seems the thing I was doing for work that I needed info from others on is not going to get addressed today, so as soon as I pay all the invoices I have, I think I will do more cards and then read for the rest of the day.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

The DH has a cold, so we were in bed at midnight and he was already asleep. We did go out for breakfast today, and sheesh, it's cold.

I had a party, albeit a small one. And then brunch. And...uh....yeah, that's it.

lentil soup, grilled cheese sandwich, and a sliced tomato.

that'll do for a cold day at home lunch.
