I said this to my mother this Christmas, "I just moved back into my house on Monday, and I have two children and it's exam week and I have a full-time job. You are retired and have very few commitments. I am not going to do your Christmas shopping for you."
Note the Christmas shopping was ONLINE. She wanted me to go to a website and order something and she'd send me the money.
Timelies all, and Happy New Year!
We went to dinner with a couple of friends, then came back to our house and exchanged gifts. They left for another gathering not long after. Mr. S was in bed, so we started watching a DVD.(Austin Lounge Lizards 30th anniversary concert) Another of our friends showed up with his out-of-town friend. Chatting and snacking occurred. We finished watching the DVD in time to watch the ball drop on tv.
Got woken up this morning by Mr. S who had climbed out of his crib, opened the door to his room and went downstairs, where he grabbed a bag of snack food and started munching. Welcome to our life.
Oh Mr. S. is it time for toddler bed?
Who is doing work so that tomorrow is not a nightmare of epic proportions for year end closing? This girl. To be fair I did ZERO work on my "work from home day" on Thursday 12/28. So some if this should have been done then. Thank goodness none of it is thinky work, just running reports and filling in spreadsheets, then paying invoices.
Also cleaning off my TiVo waiting for the Rose Bowl parade.
I'm probably going to do some work today. Might as well, because god knows I am not going outside today, where the HIGH is supposed to be 8 degrees.
8 degrees sounds positively balmy to me right now.
Happy New Year!
I need to clean my apartment some, but a lot of what I need to do is bring stuff out to the trash and recycling containers outside, and outside is just not going to happen when it's three degrees out.
Happy new year! Today's big task is getting the tree un-decorated and put away. No idea what the temps are outside, but I won't be there for long today. It's sunny. I foresee a nap in a sunbeam for me this afternoon. (2018 resolution—adopt as many of my cat's good ideas as possible.)
I am also getting the tree undecorated and having my semi-annual, "Oh my god! I have too many ornaments! I have to stop buying ornaments!" freak out.
I am leaving my tree up until at least mid month.
Well, my tv just went out. Nothing else did and a breaker is not tripped. I am going to check the plug it is in, but GD if it is blown. I don't think the tv is even 2 years old.
The tree stays up until Epiphany. I'm not Catholic, I just like the tree. Mine isn't even decorated, except for a string of tinsel. It's got fiber-optic lights in its branches, so it twinkles in colors.
Solidarity, msbelle, I also am doing work-work today. Because if I don't, tomorrow will be a manic panic that isn't pretty. Our print schedules don't take holidays or weekends into account.
