I spent a lot of money today! Presents at Target for $100, gas, some stuff for my hair at Sallys, and then $130 (!!) at Goodwill--but half of that was stuff for my sister, who I was texting all "hey, do you want a new-with-tags Eileen Fisher pair of pants, they're not my size...." Clearly I have to go back to that Goodwill more often, way better stuff there than some of the other ones. Also had lunch, and tried to get an oil change but the guy at the one place was like "Our system is down" (??) and the other place was over an hour wait. So I gave up and came home and made candied orange peels. I want them to be done NOOOOOOOW, but they have to dry and then I want to dip them in chocolate.

Mmmm, candied orange peels are great! My upstairs neighbor makes them. Except instead of dipping them in chocolate she uses them in hot toddies and other winter drinks.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I keep thinking about taking some of the candied ginger I have and dipping them in chocolate (which I also have!) instead of just eating handfuls of each out of the packaging....

I spent $550 at Target yesterday. (We bought the Nintendo Switch, plus replaced the fancy electric toothbrush I somehow lost in the move.)

I'm all packed up and ready to go. I think. I'm not sure how the one bag is 43 lbs, but it is.

Mom keeps pushing a hotel room on me, which, no. Brother's fam is recovering from various plagues, but I'm gonna be around them (that's the whole point) so me staying in a hotel is not going to make a difference. And I'd be beholden to their hours unless I also rented a car, which, again, no. This is where her short term memory flakiness gets annoying on many levels. Is she just being her stubborn dog with a bone self, or is she just forgetting? Which am I supposed to be mildly annoyed by??

Well, surgery is scheduled at 0'dark 30 on February 15th. So, lots of time to plan and try to assemble a list of potential drivers and someone (or two) to stay with me the first couple of days.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Is it possible that she thinks that you staying at a hotel will help your brother's family while they're sick? Like, they don't need to worry about having a guest?
