I went to the mall and the grocery store tonight with my mom, and it wasn't even that bad. Weird. ION, my Christmas shopping officially is done.
Would be more than happy to retire right now if it was financially feasible.
Wordy mcword. I need to sit down with a financial planner and figure out how soon I can retire.
I also got permission from my boss to keep Gizmo at the office until I can find him a home, but fingers crossed that won't even be necessary. Still, a much better backup plan than surrendering him to a shelter or turning him loose back in the alley.
A big part of our reason to move to Michigan was to lower our monthly nut enough to enable us to retire someday.. I'm 61 and J is 55– we foresee at least another decade of full time work.
Hey, Facebook just told me that 7 years ago, I had pleurisy! How was that 7 years ago??? (I mean, for god's sake, I've been married for 4 years already. WHAT THE FUCK EVEN IS THAT.)

I don't like to think about retirement. Probably I will dramatically starve to death and leave an insignificant estate to distant strangers who share some heritage.
WE ARE AT THE DPS AND HAVE DONE THE PAPERWORK AND MAC IS IN THE CAR AWAITING DRIVING TEST AND I SWEAR I AM MORE NERVOUS THAN HIM. I made him drive the hour here which gave him city streets, highways, interstate, construction and fog, so this should be a breeze, he is fully warmed up.
Digits crossed. We don't want pouty teen.

Note to self: Diet Coke after sunset is a terrible idea. I was forming a new (to me) hypothesis of the fundamental difference between the Dark Side and Light Side of the Dorce at 2 am and now my cinnamon rolls are overcarmelizing.

I should share good news, right? I'm getting a raise, a bigger bonus than I was expecting, and more stock. This morning I lost a post due to a laptop reboot where I was grumbling about not having direct reports but somehow doing the work of a people manager anyway, and this afternoon, my junior team thanked me for all my help.

One of my friends who was going to come to Mexico with me during the one week another friend can come has found out she's being sent to Japan for a leadership training. Which is amazing and awesome for her but dang.
