I'm going to stay with my uncle and aunt in Escondido for a few days (with my mother, too!).
Is it weird that I'm comforted by Jesse and Consuela not wanting to be home for Christmas this year, so I can stop thinking I'm being over-sensitive because I don't want to be home for Christmas this year?

The First Christmas after a loss is a fine time to totally break up tradition and habit by travel or other means. When my dad passed, we did not go anywhere, but rather than getting the old fake tree and family ornaments down from the attic. We bought a real tree, and all new ornaments. (the next year, we both old and new ornaments on the old tree.)
Spend money on women, movies, and booze?
I spent money on coffee, books, and women (in that all the books are by women and some will be gifts for women). Is that salacious enough to offend Grassley?

After my mom passed, the kids and I spent Christmas Eve with my dad and then flew down to Disneyland on Christmas for a few days. It was the break we needed.
