We have been posting over on FB but not as much here. Pix and I are okay, but the house that we are buying is right in the middle of the fire zone in Kagel Canyon. As of now it is still standing, but it's in the danger area. From what we understand three other houses on the street have burned, so that gives you an idea of exactly how threatened it is.

Oh man, ND, that's tough. Hoping the fire dies down soon.
Oh dear, Drew. We have been on the edges of our seats worried about you guys. What a horrible scene! The reports are so very grim. My heart goes out to the firefighters, residents, and animals! May something turn around, and quickly.
Holy crap, Drew! That's scary.
I'm smmoooove. I just almost tried to eat an earbud. I realized some m&ms had fallen out of the pack into my purse, and scooped them up...along with an earbud...they're peanut so about the same size!!
Worried about everyone threatened by the fires. Drew nd Pix, hoping your house remains safe.
We think we are probably okay. It does look like the first has gone past us at this point, but it's a California wildfire, which is in many ways the definition of unpredictable and capricious.
Speaking completely theoretically, what is your exposure at this stage in the buying process if it did burn down? Would you be the owner of a nice piece of land?
Oh, Drew, that must be gut wrenching.
Wow. Was it fun or annoying?
It was strange and amusing. I didn't have other work pressing so it didn't annoy me. I do have a tendency to appreciate benign absurdity though.
Timelies all!
Hope your house remains safe, ND.
I have introduced Mr. S to the joy of popping bubble wrap. (Of course, being 2 he has popped all the bubbles and is searching the trash for more.)

It's hard to say. We are in contract, and I'm not sure either of the agents or the lenders have dealt with a situation like this. I'm sure it doesn't come up very often. The current owners are also in escrow for buying their new house so if this falls apart due to fire they would probably also lose that house, so it's a lot of stuff going on. Right now I think we will be okay. I just signed another stack of loan documents so that we can continue with escrow so we are proceeding as if it will all be okay.
