I always thought the name Serenity had a vaguely funereal sound to it.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Our wings are not tired.

Laura, I love daughter-in-love.

Seriously, it is the best when you love your kid's mate choice. I see too often when that isn't the case and that sucks mightily. Even better, her parents adore my son. They have to stay together because all the parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends will be mad at them it they don't make it work. (such pressure, but they can take it)

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Glad Thanksgiving was OK, Tom, sorry you're still working through it anyway!

I don't know anything about food processors.

I'm already thinking about what I should make for Christmas dessert, and I think it should be something from (or at least ala) GBBO, but what??

I have a food processor, but I don't use it very often. I have a couple little ones that I use far more often.

Jesse, I made a Bakewell tart a few months ago, and it wasn't too difficult, and it was a hit. I didn't do any icing, though, just sprinkled powdered sugar over a stencil. Turned out quite tasty.

I got my massage appointment, so I'm drinking a half pint of IPA on the sunny porch of a brewpub down the block. It's crazy warm and sunny here....

I would totally do that! But my aunt is allergic to nuts. Every time I come up with something, it's full of nuts.

That is definitely a problem. I'm afk, but I do have a recipe for a nice chai butter cake if you want it...

Maybe I'll do Chelsea buns! Or that tennis cake.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

Strix, just to echo what everyone else has said, this 'friend' clearly is taking her own baggage out on you. Especially since it sounds like the plans you cancelled would have meant spending money when that's fraught for you right now.

My Thanksgiving was fine. If people were being pleasant, I was pleasant. I was taking no shit from my dad and my uncle, though. If they said something horrible while I was in the room, I immediately challenged it. Neither of them kept going with justifications, at least?
