"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Matt that does sound rather sketch. Why is the kitchen staff packing heat??

Yeah, particularly for prep before Sunday brunch, which is not a time I'd envision much need for arming oneself against potential threats. Apparently staff from the neighboring bar & grill got accidentally locked outside while this was going on and were frantically pounding on the door to be let back in.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Yikes, Matt. Stay safe.

We made a big bolognese today, and then ended up eating a whole pound of pasta. ltc had three bowls.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I just found out that a cousin's house burned down this week. It was her oldest kid's 5th birthday so they went out to eat and came back to flames shooting through the roof. They're fine and they got the dogs out, but they lost everything.

The status is NOT quo.

Yes, that was me! Although things continue to be complicated.

Oh WOW, aurelia, that's gotta be horrible.

I've managed to winnow my Japan pictures down to about 200. But some I want to be like 'ok, not the best PHOTO but it shows what we did or was funny or prompts a story" and some I'm like "It's a great photo, but you wouldn't have any idea where it was taken or what it is about..."

Also, random Q: in looking at my credit card online I noticed a pending charge from the place I was at on Friday. For $30. Problem is, I'm pretty damn sure the drinks were $16.something and I put a total of $20. Not $30. I didn't take a copy of the receipt so I'm not utterly certain of it but...pretty darn sure. Because I got two waters and one drink, IIRC. So...what's the procedure on that? Maybe someone just typed in the wrong number or misread it. If I call the credit card company is there a way for them to see what the actual charge was vs what the tip was? I don't think I've ever had something like this happen!

Our wings are not tired.

I don't think there is much you can do with pending charges, meara. You really have to wait for the actual to come through. Some of our restaurant charges are higher as pending than when the actual comes through.

Oh aurelia, how awful and shocking for your cousins. Reminder to self to scan all the dang pictures!

Although things continue to be complicated.

I'm holding my breath for you guys.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

Well, I just had a thoroughly invasive pat down by the TSA. Does Global Entry prevent you from having to deal with this shit? Because that pat down was seriously not okay.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

A couple years ago we gave about 1/3 of my childhood books to this cousin. It's a petty thing in the grand scheme of things, but it makes me a little sad to know those books don't exist any more.
