For Kevin Spacey, declaring, "I'm coming out as a pedophile" probably doesn't have the same ring to it as coming out as gay...

Spacey is getting no mercy on Twitter. I thought the statement was actually good. I see that the coming out was not the right time and I am really mad that that is what the media is focusing on.

I am having a hard time with the many many tweets I saw that said something to the effect of "how dare he say he does not remember this because he was drunk", there are a lot of things I have been told about that I do not remember from college. I drank a lot, and for a period of time was drinking to the point of blacking out once every week or so. I was also averaging about 3-4 hours of sleep and honestly just whole chunks of more than a year are not at all clear. I can't tell you what classes I took without looking at a transcript. Certainly cannot tell you professor names. I can't even remember names of everyone I slept with, and I initiated all of my hook-ups.

I also know that I was not hooking up with high school boys or younger, or more importantly wasn't even associating with them, much less inviting them to situations where I'd be drunk.

It's not the same, but in some ways it is. Nothing excuses it, but things do happen that people don't remember.

Yiiiiikes. I feel like not remembering it rings more like, "I threw myself on top of so many teenagers, who can remember them all!" And let's remember what a 14 year old boy looks like -- a child. It's not like a 16 year old girl, who might look like a grownup.

Also, kind of devastated about Strega, even though I didn't even know her.

WRT Spacey, it would have been a fine response if someone was trying to out him, but I thought it was a pretty shitty response to being accused of being a child predator.

Seth Abramson's ongoing Twitter thread today is FASCINATING: [link] And yet I still can't let myself hope that this is really the beginning of the end for the Trump administration (that's one of Abramson's Tweets -- he says the Papadopoulos plea is THAT big). I just refuse to hope anymore.

I'd hit my monthly free article limit on three separate major news sources by Friday. This is very frustrating for me today.

Last night while everyone else was watching baseball I was going, "Holy shit, Anthony!" He's the first person I have a connection with to make such a high profile accusation. Wow. Spacey is totally deflecting by coming out. It's good to see so many not taking the bait. While I believe that Spacey doesn't remember the specific incident, that would seem to imply that other incidents are likely to have happened.

Very sad news about Strega.

I don't know, sj. While we stayed "Twitter friends," it's been quite a while since we really emailed or anything.

I would think Allyson and Tim Minear would want to know. Other than that I don't know which Buffistas she was friendly with. Maybe when Sars sets up the Donors Choose project would be the time for that? Whatever you think is best.
