I'm also still mad I couldn't formulate a response to the racist old bat in the y locker room. All I could manage was Jesus fucking Christ and a hand flapping. And I've encountered her before. Uhg.

Jesse, I'm sorry. May it be peaceful.
I'm really sorry, Jesse.
I bought an antique Windsor chair for $20 at a yard sale. It's in excellent condition and looks great in my living room. That's my news of the day.
Wishing you and your family peace, Jesse.
In the last two days I've wandered through two independent bookstores in San Francisco which are slated for closing. And while shopping there listened to the clerks/owners talk about all the bookstores which have closed in the City and Berkeley. It was a sad litany.
But I did find some cool mysteries including a Lovejoy book (I'm only dimly aware of the series on TV) and a non-Ripley Patricia Highsmith. Also a writer who Neil Gaiman always trumpets, Brian Aldiss, who I've never read.
Also, I saw Blade Runner which put me in a weird mood as I walked around a very busy Mission on a Saturday night. So many young techsters on the loose in the streets.
I'm sorry, Jesse.
Jesse, if it would be a welcome distraction, you should get ridiculous cat toys for the new guy and see what he likes.
I bought a fidget spinner for my cats that seems to have gone over well. My downstairs neighbor might not love it.
I just offered to send a copy of the constitution to the White House twitter feed. It could be entertaining to see if that attracts any trolls.
It rained enough in Chicago today that the river is flowing toward the lake instead of away. I hope that doesn't thwart Asian Carp control efforts.
I'm sorry, Jesse.
Fun adventure this morning: Airport limo guy left without me. Good thing I can float the cost of a cab and demand a refund when I get home. This is really the only thing that's gone wrong for the whole trip, so I'm just rolling with it.
Wishing all of you peace and comfort, Jesse.
That's amazing furniture luck, Zen! Congratulations!
May the refund be swift, Dana.
Okay! So the trip to the airport took maybe an extra 45 minutes because there was an accident that closed all but one lane of the airport access road. I still had time before my flight, so I wasn't worried. And turns out I really didn't need to be worried, because my departing flight is delayed! Enough that I will miss my connection!
So now I am rebooked through Atlanta, and I will arrive home at midnight instead of 7:30. I do not think I will do a lot of work tomorrow. And I also have rehearsal from 7:30 to 10PM. Ha ha ha ha. Ha.
I'm sorry, Jesse.
Congrats on the successful garage sale, msbelle!
Score, Zen!
I need some distraction today myself. Maybe I'll research a compound for Buffistas North. Any place that expects multiple 85+ F days in a row is automatically off the list. My fellow heat-wimp buffistae can gather there and host ski parties in the winter. For example, this lovely 8 bedroom Queen Anne in a northern MI college town, for under half a million: [link]
ETA: Or this, which is less pretty but has a garage: [link]
Today is the last day when the forecast calls for 80+F in my area. Which is a month late, even for central NC. But tomorrow will be cold and rainy—I'm so looking forward to it.
Much non-burn~ma to everyone near the fires. I hope they'll be controlled/out soon.
Yeah, I think you cancel work.
Really need to start this load of laundry.
