Pumpkin is mad at me because the floors are wet and she keeps botching her leaps. And I'm a little annoyed because I have to pee...and the floors are wet. I'll go check on friends' cats and use their bathroom....

So, my father is dying. My mother called me from the nursing home yesterday, so I took half the day off work and went over there. Spent a bunch more time today, got all signed up for hospice (a little late, but OK), and now we just wait I guess.
For some reason, the hospice ordered us a priest, so that was kind of awkward and funny, and then the Protestant chaplain came too, so she offered to have a rabbi come tomorrow, which actually my father would love, but she was joking and we all enjoyed it.
Jesse, that's rough. I'm so sorry. I hope he's comfortable.
Thanks. Yeah, mostly, except they keep putting him in different positions he doesn't like. It doesn't seem like the morphine is doing much for him, but they were going to add ativan, I think.
And for gods sake, people, please continue to post about different things! I could use the distraction.
I made an apple crisp! But it's freakishly warm here (81 today), so it doesn't seem appropriate. Though Tim assures me that ANY time is an appropriate time for apple crisp.
We have a Halloween party tonight, and I am wearing my unicorn onesie, although it's fleece, so I probably won't be wearing it for long, what with it being 81 degrees and all, so I have to bring shorts and a t-shirt or something.
Jesse, I'm so sorry.
Wishing you peace, Jesse.
It looks like the air is better, I am just sort of starting to fell better, but if the winds change agina ...
I'm sorry Jesse.
My folks took me out to dinner last night, and Mom actually enjoyed her Thai cashew chicken. I may yet convince her that trying different cuisines isn't a bad thing!
Thanks, y'all. Now I wish I had an apple crisp, although I do have chili on the stove.
I hope that your father can be kept comfortable, Jesse. Wishes for peace for your family.
I had a hugely successful bonfire today. Started about 6-1/2 hours ago and it is just smoldering coals now. They have been doing all this carpentry repair while painting the camp so I had lots and lots of wood debris, plus 4 dead trees that came down. I didn't burn all the trees, but tossed in a few logs while burning the lumber.
It had the side effect of making me even more sorrowful for those in the raging fire areas to enjoy it so much. As always I had my hose and a fire bucket handy. There were a few times when I had to toss a bit of water on stray embers since we have so many leaves on the ground right now. But it was super pretty and never unattended. Step-dad and DH sat with me and relaxed too. It was a good day.
