The status is NOT quo.

Hey, we are totally here to hear it or watch you process it out or whatever. I just hope it all ends up well. :(

What meara said. Hoping for the best for you! It's a horrific situation.

Herding cats for fun

Why not think of fire related posts as newsworthy, not venting? Inquiring minds need to know, after all.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Finally get home and my eyes are still itchy and watery.

Yeah, me too! Tears streaming at times.

Anxiously pinging Emmett every couple hours to see what the status is.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

-t, we want to know how you're doing so don't consider it dumping so much as just keeping us updated.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Agreed! If you also benefit from telling us what's up, that is excellent.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Just woke up. Our neighborhood is much smokier than yesterday; even with the windows closed the smell is strong and the air feels gritty. Please, please keep checking in, -t.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

I saw a few stars while out walking the dog, but it's pretty smokey out there.

Ann, that's a ferret.

In cat news, now our Coco has cancer. During his last checkup, one of his liver enzymes was up somewhat. Several tests later, it looks like his liver isn't particularly bad for a cat his age (12 next month), but there are nodules in his lungs that appear to be cancerous and also enlarged lymph nodes.

This one is hitting me hard. It isn't just that we've already lost one sister and two cats in the last 18 months. They say that sometimes you don't choose the cat -- the cat chooses you. That's what happened with Coco. We were at an adoption event when we saw a black cat in one of the cages. They opened the door, and Coco jumped in my arms. And he's been by my side ever since (except when he's caring for any kittens that happen to come in the house, or supervising workers that come in).

I'm so sorry, Fred. Coco sounds like an utter love, a true companion.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I'm so sorry, Fred. You make such a good home for your cats, it is no surprise that one recognized you as his person.

Thanks, everyone. There's actually blue sky this morning, oddly, but we are under a Red Flag Watning and google tells me the Atlas Fire (the one I am worried about) flared up overnight, so I'm going ahead with packing up. Supervisor is ok with it. I told her I plan to get to the office today, right now I am not confident about that, but could still happen.
