Dagnabbit! I just put together my new tv stand, and I was so sure I had all the parts in the right places, and...nope! So I have to take the whole damn thing back apart. I'm not sure I can bear it tonight.
On the upside, I had skipped most of the screws holding the back on.
Oh thank goodness, I realized it was an easy fix.
Nice! Reminds me I need to reorganize my spare bits collection.
Yay, Jesse! It looks really nice!
I was inspired by y'all to order a bookshelf thing to match the one I had on the other side, and last night I mostly put it together and today I cut holes in the back of the thing so the outlet and the light switches are usable!
I need a serious shoe rack.
We have been putting off getting bookcases, as we keep thinking the barristers bookcases of our dreams are going to show up on Craigslist or at a garage sale. I miss my books, though, and want to get them out of purgatory and up on some shelves.
Scrappy, maybe folding bookcases could serve as a temporary solution until you find the ones you want? They'd store easily when you're done with them. I've been very happy with some similar to these: [link]
Scrappy, in MI those are probably all in the antique malls.
I love the folding bookcases! I even use one in my kitchen for dish display since I have very little usable cupboard space.
Thanks again all for the sympathy for my uncle. We had calling hours Tuesday, and there will be no service, so it is done. Calling hours were predictably trying- my other uncle and cousin (uncle's son) sort of hid, my mom and I were gamely welcoming, but awkward, and most of the visitors were of course for my aunt. The lovely thing that happened is that both of my BFFs, one from college and one from theatre came, and finally met each other after about 15 years of hearing stories about the other! They instantly got along and it was lovely. Also my mom's high school friend's came, AND one woman who was her best friend in grammar school called the funeral home, because she couldn't come out. My mom hadn't heard from her in years, so that was great, too. Also, my cousin's step-daughter who is about 22 is a great, smart, helpful girl who pitched in organizing things and keeping my aunt from being overwhelmed! My uncle's buddies from his work days came, including a woman who was the first in their kind of job (he worked for the electric company, clearing trees for the lines to be run). She was the first woman to be on a truck, and she was on with my uncle. I can't imagine he let her have it easy, but she seemed to enjoy the memories.
