And almost sixty-five percent of that was actual compliment. Is that a personal best?

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

No, ltc was just the one in the back seat screaming "move, move!!!" The whole time. I got a warning. I missed that the school zone sign that was lit up. So I was going to original speed limit but not the 20mph school limit.

I warning. So no actually ticket. I have never gotten a speeding ticket. Even when I was young and zipping around in a bright red car.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

Aja the long time fandom personality.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Well, the Steely Dan album is lousy, too.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Technically, I supported the lurker at work! For various and sundry other reasons, I had wondered for years if we might know some people in common, but had no damn clue they were someone who went here.

Aja the long time fandom personality.

Named after the Steely Dan song (some people just never split fandom names from wallet names), disingenuous fuckwit who earns money as an "expert" at fandom and has given a platform to a serial abuser in the past, got huffy that one time I publically called the Daily Dot the Daily Mail of fandom (THIS MADE ME SO HAPPY), preemptively blocked on Twitter because OMG, she's the worst and I don't need to see that bullshit.

And her Hot Fuzz Yuletide fic from a couple of years ago seriously needed a goddamn britpicker.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

My sympathies, flea. The Loomy One does that, too.

Hi Plei's lurker!

Or you already know each other, you just don't know you know each other!

That is my...fear? Concern? Slight nauseous feeling?

sj, if your kid was in the backseat yelling at you to move, surely that's a partial explanation for why you were speeding?

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

On a renovation note: I've been idly contemplating getting hardwood put in my upstairs (the main floor kitchen/living room are hardwood but the stairs/hall/bedrooms are carpeted). I don't currently have a roommate so now might be the best time?? But I have no idea how much it would cost or what anpain it would be. Also I really don't want the same look as my main room (I dislike the warm honey oak type color) but then it would be weird that they clash, right??

We recently did exactly this. We bought the flooring from Home Depot and went with their installers, who were actually a local flooring company contracted through HD (so, the advantages of HD financing and warranty stuff). No idea how much space you're covering, but for our job the price seemed reasonable. Happy to share details off-board when I get home if you'd like. Our upstairs was all one room; assume more of everything because your layout is more complex.

We had to move a ton of stuff out of the upstairs -- not everything; they work around furniture, but had to move electronics, get stuff out of shelves, move anything breakable, etc etc. We were getting other projects done at the same time and ended up moving OUR WHOLE LIVES into the living room and are still unpacking and it's hell but that's all on us.

The actual disruption from the work was minimal: we had to prep by moving aforementioned valuables, and then they came in and got their job done in a day.

Finally, we deliberately went for something that didn't match the downstairs floor because we figured we'd never get new engineered bamboo to match 70-year-old oak, and we'd rather not look like we were trying to match and failing. it's a marked contrast but not at all clashing -- it just looks (as intended) like we have two totally different colors.

Other than STILL having crap to unpack, I'm very happy we did it.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Huh. The signature on an email I just got says the sender is in a "Colon Free Zone". I wonder what that means.
