Could just be a hoax, though. I fake some headaches, everyone gets used to poor helpless Spike. Then one day, no warning, I snap a spine, bend a head back, drain 'em dry. Brilliant.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

Volcano eruption?

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

But between this and the fires on the West Coast, this is starting to feel like the part of the movie where the aliens are trying to wipe things out so they can terraform the planet.

Somewhere Ming the Merciless is chuckling and pushing buttons on his disaster machine. Next up: Hot Hail!

Ooh, volcano, I hadn't thought of that one. There is that supervolcano that could end the earth...

A disease that wipes out the corn crop, sending our food system into shock. (Corn's in almost everything.)

Our wings are not tired.

Supervolcano isn't that far fetched with the fracking happening.

Keys evacuating and portions of Miami, and now Broward (Ft Lauderdale) has ordered mandatory evacuation for all those E of Federal Hwy. So with millions hitting the roads I hope DH finishes his prep and gets going soon. At least his vehicle is diesel. Many stations are out of gas.

My sister asks him this morning when is he coming over, then proceeds to tell him she has no panels for her windows. What does she think he can do? People are using $80 a board marine plywood because regular stuff is gone. Grrrrr, family.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Oh, sister of Laura. COntinuing the safe-from-Irma vibes. I hope Calli's great aunt can have some merciful influence somehow.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I have a friend who lives in Orlando and works for Lockheed, and his boss basically said "Even time-sensitive projects can wait. Take your wife and dog and get the fuck out of here."

Yes, son and GF work for Tesla. She was clever enough to suggest staff take vehicles and move them out of the path of the storm, but instead they moved them to the parking garage at the Palm Beach airport. Oh well, nice try.

My business phone was in Broward prior to us closing the office so I got a call this morning that I was in a mandatory evacuation area and get the hell out of town. Unlike many phone type alerts it had me press a key to confirm that I got the message. Then thanked me for confirming!
