I spent yesterday being flown to & from Portland so I could film my Very Important Cameo (with dialogue) as a Disapproving Elder Goth in an indie movie. Everyone involved with the production is great, and the kids in the cast are so damn adorable.
There were stressful hijinks with getting home: because of how tight the filming schedule was, and because TSA Precheck isn't open on Saturday nights at the PDX airport, I got to my flight gate 5 minutes after the plane had pulled away. But apparently airline gate staff get concerned when a goth girl starts crying in front of them, and found another flight to Seattle that had been delayed (for almost an hour!), that hadn't started boarding and still had seats available.
Sophia I haven't seen Atypical. Those on my Twitter feed don't seem happy with the trailer.
A big compliant has been that the autistic character isn't played by an autistic actor. One of the show runners or writers said something about how a neurotypical actor could humanize the role. Which is rather unfortunate wording.
Also the fact that a show about an autistic person is a show about a white male.
I'm glad they came through for you, Jilli.
I got up and spent too much money at the farmer's market, then came home to make coffee and a breakfast burrito. I need to finish drinking coffee so I can go to the salon and get my hair cut.
Well, fuck. Just got a call from my mom, who'd been called by the sheriff in Tuolumne. My dad has been backpacking this week and apparently went off by himself yesterday and didn't come back. So he's missing. Gah. I can't think of anything helpful to do. Mom said not to come out error till later, so I guess I will try to clean my house but gah.
I'm glad you made it home OK, Jilli! Boy, the Kickstarter for that movie was ages ago, I'm glad to hear filming is happening (and excited for your part!)
Oh -t. Holding all possible good thoughts for your dad, for your mom and you and the rest of his beloveds.
And Jilli, how exciting that you got the VIP treatment, and I'm very glad airport staff came through for you!
I'm sorry, -t. I hope they find him quickly.
mac takes over an hour to get ready unless it's something he wants to do. Ridiculous.
Oh, shit, -t. Sending loads of "safe home" thoughts your dad's way
