My audiobook narrator said nice things about my story all unprompted and all:
I do want to express real quick just how much I'm enjoying the book! I love Essy and Quinten so much already and can't wait for this kid steampunk trio to save the queen. They are precious. I could also say a lot in regards to how I appreciate the nature of how Cog got into the mess of having to pretend she's a boy - I'm sure it's something you meditated on for a quite a while. This is a trope with a long history of examples, of course, and it's often rife with commentary (intentional or not) on how it's inherently better to be a boy than to be a girl, but your story doesn't do that at all. I also really like how the specialties of the girls and boy in our trio are sort of switched according to traditional gender roles in genre fiction - the girls get all the left brain logic/puzzle skills and the boy gets the mysterious magical potential stuff. That's a pretty cool turn-around, and it's very refreshing!
That was nice to get on a day when I've been feeling like crap.
I've got swim lessons arranged! I start next Monday!
Gud, I'm so glad your audiobook narrator shared that feedback with you! You deserve nice things.
Yay for positive feedback!
Swim lessons! Woo! I have thought about it so often. I have been swimming as long as I can remember, and love it, but I don't do it "right" and would benefit from an actual lesson. But then they would probably want me to get my ears wet, and I don't do that.
I'm a lot happier with my insurance company after picking up the prescription and finding that each box has six doses, not one dose. I apologize for slandering you, usually soulless insurance company.
I'm exhausted and cranky because I've failed at going to bed at a reasonable hour. I have a 9pm meeting that I kinda should go to, but I just want to go to bed early like a responsible adult. Curses.
Oh good, Dana. That's way more sensible. My insurance will also pay 6 doses/month, thankfully these days that's plenty for me.
Dang, what a choice, shrift! Be responsible or be responsible.
Yay more drugs than you thought you were getting!
Yay swim lessons!
Yay narrator feedback!
I think I have not missed by bus home yet. I missed the earlier business from work to the transit center, but I just walked that and took advantage of the wait between busses to run into Target and pick up the makings of cookies for our 4th of July thingy on Friday and was nervous that I took too long, but NextBus says no, 10 more minutes.
I've normally only been getting a migraine every few months, but I had one right before we left, and then flying home on a super-long day and messing up my medication schedule triggered another.
At least I can give this stuff a try and see if it works, without having to pay the usual cost of $100 for a three-month supply. Thanks, back surgery!
