I love that I recognize so many of the poolstaff, still. Saw mirrored glasses there today.

I'm quite the homebody. I'm not good at getting out & about beyond my street and work/swim/errands pattern. But there's so much more out there in this city, things I want to support. Discovering Cocina Luchadoras, that was the first time I've been down in upper Fells in ages. It's 4 fucking miles away. There's a new local BBQ place about 8 blocks from me, I need to try that. I just am predisposed to hermit & cheer from afar, which...ehhn.

I had too much tasty tasty sushi, and now I'm waiting for the oven to heat up before I put the peach-blueberry-ginger pie in the oven. For once I got the lattice to work properly without too much angst!

My anxiety is spiking from a medication change. I'm surrounded by wildfires, including the biggest one in the country a couple of hours south of me. Lung Roulette is not a happy thing. It's not so bad when I'm at home with the air moving with multiple fans, but I stepped outside to the heavy smell of smoke. Breathing should not be a competitive sport.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

The life celebration for my aunt was amazing, despite the crying. I knew she touched a lot of lives but it was great to hear everyone's stories. She helped and encouraged many people to get a good education, and those people went on to have great careers. She inspired many people, myself included, with her love and knowledge of the arts. She saved three people's lives--two while working at a suicide hotline, plus she once insisted on taking a neighbor to the ER who was not feeling well and just wanted to take a nap. (Two more hours and the neighbor would have died.)

Everyone there was great, so I ended up giving a short speech on what Joyce meant to me, despite crying through it.

I'm wiped out now and have to get up early tomorrow to fly back, so I'll post more later.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Connie, I hope you get some relief.

tommy, that sounds lovely. The world is a poorer, sadder place without your aunt.

Tommy, I'm so happy the celebration went well. Travel safely.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Glad to hear it, Tommy. It's so hard to lose great people, and yet so wonderful to hear about how great they were, you know?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

So I realize where I went wrong with my yardwork yesterday: did it at literally the hottest/most humid point of the weekend.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

That sounds like a wonderful ceremony for a wonderful person and sad loss, tommyrot.

At least it's done, Jesse? I am putting off my yardwork until this evening when the temperature might drop into the 70s and my front yard will be in the shade to do mine. This runs the risk of me giving up on doing anything before then, but I am cautiously optimistic.

It's more or less done - at least, the yard waste barrel is now full, so I can't do much more regardless!
