If only we wanted to move somewhere cheaper!
Yeah, that's my issue. I could sell my house for probably 3x what I originally paid for it, but that wouldn't give me enough to buy a similar house in a better neighborhood (for values of better that include closer to transit or the parks or whatever). I could only move out of the city, farther from my family and my job.
If I wanted to move to Omaha or someplace in the Central Valley, I'd be all set. But I don't want to.
I'm so grateful that the Alexandria shooting only resulted in the shooter's death so far, but worried about the political consequences. And once again the politicians and the media seem to miss that the strongest indicator of a mass shooter is a history of domestic violence rather than any particular political ideology.
Fucking toxic American masculinity.
Jesse, I think you should move closer to me, which would be much cheaper.

Yuuuuuup.

Yeah, exactly. I'd rather stay here.

And lose my 1.5 mile commute? See, this is my problem.
Very true. TCG's commute sucks, but we can't afford to live where he works.
I couldn't afford to live here alone if my parents hadn't bought the house in 1979 or whatever.
We could not afford to buy in our neighborhood now.
Likewise my house is worth almost twice what I paid for it...but then I'd have to find somewhere else to live.
Yeah, I definitely could not afford my neighborhood now.
