"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Wait, they're closing the office but forcing everyone to use up one of their own leave days? WTF?

Because books.

The owner of the bakery where I work closes for two weeks in July and two weeks in January. That's a full month out of the year I don't get a paycheck. Since it's been two years now, I'm going to negotiate how to change my pay structure, because those months always panic me.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Hourly employees can use PTO or not get paid, salaried have to use PTO, is what we are told. Does not seem right to me, but not enough for me to do anything about it, probably. If I run out of vacation time, I'm not gonna not take the time off I already have planned, I'll find out what happens at that point.

Punishingly Intricate

Wait, they're closing the office but forcing everyone to use up one of their own leave days?

That is some bullshit!

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Back from CT. Things went well for the most part. The Sea Songs Festival was fun(great weather!) and we ran into some folks we know from the folk retreat we go to every year. Everybody at the party thought Mr. S was adorable. However, the cold thingy that I was dealing with is still around, complete with recurring cough that Robitussin does little to help and a voice that either sounds like I smoke 3 packs a day or can't talk above a whisper. If I'm still having problems tomorrow, I'm calling my doctor.(or at least her group)

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Tonight ltc became hysterical at dinner about bath time even though we told her no bath tonight. I was able to get her to eat a little by showing her Youtube videos on my phone. Send cocktails.

Clusterfuck all week at the pool. Short staffed, interim director is on vacay and storms predicted. Gonna be a cranky week. Already emailed director because the guards are so stressed out and exhausted and this is all mgmt's fuck up and there is no excuse for it. The pool is probably the most heavily patronized neighborhood resource in summer & they keep treating it like the bastard cousin. They need a dedicated pool director, not a hybrid ( awesome one just left to a different Y and they decided to hybrid the job. It suckedlast time they did this too.)

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I know some people have issues with it, but I just used Alexa to wake my dad up in Twin Lakes and tell him to call me when we were worrying because it's so hot and we just got back from traveling and hadn't heard from him. He wasn't hearing phone/texts because the phone was in another room. That's huge.
