Yes, it's terribly simple. The good guys are always stalwart and true, the bad guys are easily distinguished by their pointy horns or black hats, and, uh, we always defeat them and save the day. No one ever dies, and everybody lives happily ever after.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Fuck that noise, Tep, your relatives can organize their own post-operation alternative communications tree after your text. That is so not your responsibility. Surgery~ma for your ma.

I hope you are done with that meeting Dana.

I'm off to get an orthotic for my tendinitis (really, that's how you spell it? Ok, autocorrect, if you say so, but it looks wrong). I left work early yesterday because I got a same day appt with my doctor, and I'll be in late today because the podiatrist doesn't open until 9 and closes at 5 and closes for lunch, and I'll be leaving early tomorrow to get to the airport on time and taking the rest of the week off for my niece's graduation. It's barely like working, but not at all like a vacation.

Blood-on-the-inside-of-your-body~ma, Zen! Be fruitful and multiply hemoglobin! Or welcome your new immigrants, I suppose. Fill those arteries and veins up somehow.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Heh, and I also have an author emailing me to say "I need to speak with you over the phone. Give me your phone number so that I can call after I am out of the OR." And here's the thing(s): (1) 9.75 times out of 10, whatever issue the author has does not require a phone call to resolve; and (2) I'm not giving my cell number to a stranger (though, to be fair, the author doesn't know I work from home and probably thinks they would be calling the AMA offices).

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

We have a new "director of strategic communications" who's gone a bit overboard with sending mass emails ... like one every day and two on some days. And a lot of them are done on a must-have-now basis (like today). And she has to see what the final looks like before she can settle on the final language, appearance, etc. And she's not fond of giving me all the materials (image files, lists, information) I need to get them out. Our costs for this service have doubled and more and more people are unsubcribing or classifying anything from us as spam. But hey ... what do I know? I'm just the peon here to serve her whims.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Zen, I hope they get your bleeding issue figured out. ~ma for you.

Steph, lots of ~ma for your mom.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Camel case is BULLSHIT.

YES. Also, while I use Pooh Case extensively in my personal writing style, it IS NOT APPROPRIATE for technical documentation! And if you absolutely have to do it, do it consistently!

(Yes, I am thinking of setting one of my program managers on fire.)

Zen, I hope things are figured out quickly and easily!

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Teppy, tons of surgery ~ma for your mother. Your family is being unreasonable. You should be able to text one person and they should handle the rest.

I don't mind sending a group text, since they're easy to do. I'm just not on board with a bunch of different methods of communication. (The aunt who wanted me to email tried to explain it by saying "I read my email on my phone -- can't you send email from your phone?" And I deserve a medal for NOT saying "I send texts from my phone -- can't you read texts on your phone?" All I said was "I'll send a text when surgery is over -- if that's a problem, call [Other Aunt] in the afternoon and she can tell you what the text said." Which, in retrospect, is just as snarky as my first option, but I don't actually care.)

What -t said! Also, please update when you can, Zen.

Teppy, group text is the best method and you are a good daughter for keeping the others in the loop. I'll be sending the quick and effortless surgery~ma. In lieu of text I'll wait patiently for an update here.

CamelCase. Huh, learn something new every day.

Your family, Tep. How do they not understand that you might have something else on your mind than each of their preferred methods of notification? Like your mom, that you are kindly notify them about. For example.

You are being very patient with them is how it looks from over here.

That doesn't sound very strategic, Toddson.
