Well, I suppose everybody knew it would happen, but we're out of the Paris accords officially.
Here's Dillo's classmate! She made it through the first 3 rounds, but did not make the finals. [link]
They used to have the spelling bee across the street from my office (years ago). There were always protesters - people who objected to standardized spelling.
Go classmate of Dillo! They are just amazing.
Trump just continues to make me weep for our world. The level of my outrage and disgust is off the charts. DH was concerned and decided I needed to go out to a movie. I looked at the Wonder Woman options, but too full theaters and not the greatest seat options. So I decided on Snatched. Goldie Hawn and Amy Schumer getting kidnapped in Ecuador and hilarity ensuing. I don't even care about the crappy reviews. I will first assure I am tipsy enough that I will laugh at the most obvious jokes.
people who objected to standardized spelling
Oh dear! This is why I need comedy. People protesting spelling bees! Sigh. They probably voted for Trump!
This would have been pre-Trump ... stupidity is, alas, always with us.
On the lighter side, cats being dramatic. I especially appreciate the second one.
People against standardized spelling or people for rational spelling?
People getting up a protest against standardized spelling - I'm not sure that rational (in any sense of the word) came into it. They seemed to be advocating spelling things phonetically and not necessarily the same way across the board (imagine how someone from New England would spell something phonetically versus someone from the deep South).
