And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Aw, poor Mac! I split my chin open swimming when I was about 10 or so. It wasn't fun.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I am a horrible parent.

Nope.

Coding and Sleeping

I am a horrible parent.

Nah. That's just normal stuff. I remember this one time I was talking with a pediatrician. He said that when he started he would secretly feel judgemental about the parents with some of the injuries that he say. Then he had a child and one day he had his child on his shoulders and walked him into a ceiling fan. He was never judgemental again.

It was more the wishing bad upon him for being an obstinate oppositional child and then him getting hurt. I know I did not will it into happening and I know I never wished actualphydical harm to him, but in the moment it sure felt like karma was saying "ok bitch, we got your bad energy right here.".

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Often, with doctors, I comfort myself with the knowledge that they've always seen worse.

Y'all, I'm almost feeling sorry for Spicer.

A deflated and exhausted Sean Spicer, who continues to read reports that his job is in jeopardy but is working 12 hours every day in his office, huddled in his office with Chief of Staff Reince Priebus.

Holy cow, this episode of Hoarders has a woman who talks to the camera through her ventriloquism dummies.

She's filled her adult daughter's room with puppets and tells her that the puppets are having a party.

I know I post about this show in jest or whatever, but it's fascinating to me how clearly hoarding is tied to grief or traumatic events. So many of these people need help and haven't been able to get it.

Our wings are not tired.

Absolutely. My sister has been hoarding since her son died 22 years ago. She is an incredibly intelligent capable woman, super effective in her career, active in lots of community activities, president of this and treasurer of that. But we are powerless to do anything about her house, which is a horror. We can't even mention it to her. Her living son has told her in no uncertain terms that her beloved grandchild will never go to her house, 2 miles away. He is only 7 so he hasn't figured out that he never goes to Nana's house yet. But he will. Hoarding is really hard on the adjacent friends and family.

I'm sorry, Laura. That's sad.
