Thrive to spite them

My adventures in cooking included the microwave spontaneously coming on causing me to drop my dinner (face down on the floor) and then in my replacement dinner making I accidentally melted my favorite spatula some in the pan.

I kept cooking because at that point I was hungry and did not want to start over a third time. I think I ate some of the plastic though. Or maybe it just flavored dinner.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

The last time I had people over, I totally melted a spatula into the food, while everyone was right there! We picked it out and it was fine. Eh!

I'm sorry it was your favorite spatula, though.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Oh, hell, everything hurts and I hate everything.

hip deep in pie

I don't think Ouise would mind me sharing some positive news. This week she has her last chemo session. I visited her yesterday afternoon (with Elena). She's in good spirits and it was really nice to spend some time with her.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Oh, good! Positive news is what we need, I swear.

Gronk. I am trying to adjust my sleep schedule back to Human With Day Job (because I'm supposedly starting one up again soon) and it's HARD.

I mean, last job, I was on the clock by 8 am most days, but also I worked at home so it was rolling out of bed and into my office chair.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Well, yesterday evening I had a plumbing emergency - the hot water (which had been dripping a bit) suddenly started gushing. Being a reasonable person, I reached under the sink and turned the hot water off completely. Still dripped a bit, so I turned off the cold water. Went back into the kitchen maybe half an hour later and there was a big puddle right in front of the sink; didn't see it so I stepped into it in my slippers (ick). Changed into sneakers and mopped the floor. Checked the under-sink cabinet and realized THAT was flooded, so I moved everything out, tried to locate the drip, and mopped that up. Went back in after a while and it had flooded again. Called building management - I'd tried to hold off, since it was a Sunday evening, but I was afraid the water would drip into the apartment downstairs.

After more than 90 minutes I called back ... and the woman at the desk had sent our maintenance guy to the wrong apartment. He'd checked out all the apartments with that number on the various floors, but none of them were having a problem. He came up after about 10 minutes, checked it out, said it was the right thing (turning off the water and clearing out the cabinet) but he didn't have the necessary parts to fix it - he'd have to go to the hardware store to buy them in the morning.

So I mopped up periodically until I was too tired, put down newspapers to absorb as much of the water as possible (to prevent flooding the rest of my apartment) and finally got to sleep about 3:30. Alarm went off at the usual time, I couldn't get back to sleep, although I'd planned to call in late, so I got up, cleaned up, didn't even try for breakfast and hauled myself into the office.

I am TIRED ... definitely at less than my best. Hopefully, I'll be able to go home a little early to a dry kitchen. Send ~ma, please.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Go Ouise!

Good luck, Plei. Working regular hours is a trial.

I'm sorry, Dana. You get a shot later today, right? I hope it helps.

Ugh, Toddson. Lots of plumbing~ma!

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Jesus, the process of having to deal with a doctor's office when you're sick is such a cruel joke.

I don't have another shot scheduled. If it had helped, that would be one thing, but I've actually gotten worse. So it seems like looking at surgery is a good idea. Which I would confirm, if I could actually get through to a nurse.
