And the thing is, I like my evil like I like my men: evil. You know, straight up, black hat, tied to the train tracks, soon my electro-ray will destroy metropolis BAD.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

oy ... more organic fertilizer hitting the fan ... my organization handed out a bunch of awards last week and this morning we received a message from one of the winners - who won TWO awards - that the company listed as "presented to" is wrong ... it only acknowledged one of the parties of a joint venture. So my boss is in a tizzy and wants to get the info from their initial submission and what they sent in as the name. Well, what's on their initial entry as the submitter is what we put on the trophy. He also wanted what was sent to them asking for info ... but it was sent by someone who's left and who refused to copy me on what he sent out. And the information the dearly departed sent me before departing didn't include that info. Luckily, paranoid packrat that I am, I have the message from boss telling me to use the name of the company that submitted the entry. I have a message in which I'd sent him my question about which of the three possible company names to use and his response telling me to use the one we did ... which is causing problems. Almost $1,000 in new trophies to be made at our expense.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Good on you for being a paranoid packrat who keeps everything, Toddson. What a mess.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Oy, Todd.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I'm continually weirded out that Chicago and Dallas are in the same time zone. Now I have to account for the panhandle too?

Hush you! I really am hoping that Paul Ryan would prefer a gets things done legacy to an obstruction legacy.

I'm pretty sure he would. Unfortunately, it sounds like he has to spend all his time fighting with the Freedom Caucus rather than actually trying to work on legislation.

Right. Doesn't matter. He's read the tea (Party) leaves. Get things done gets him primaried. Our muscled out a la Cantor. He'll continue with this "more in sorrow than anger" BS he's done with Trump, but he'll stay in line.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

You ever feel like you'll welcome a really bad cold or the flu because you'd get the spend several days in bed without feeling guilty about it?

All the time. Though I was super excited last Friday when I took the morning off and then got to work from home for the rest of the day. I knocked like 8 things off my to-do list! Man, that felt good.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I jokingly long for a mild listeria exposure. When exposure to anyone with exposure to Ebola was getting people a 6 week quarantine, I was jealous.

the hardest to learn / was the least complicated

Oh my lord. One of the people who does graphics at the AMA got completely pissed off when I emailed her directly to ask when a figure would be ready to send to the author. Apparently freelancers are NEVER to email the graphics people directly and have to bother our coordinators and ask THEM to ask the graphics people and then email us back.

The funny part, though, is that the graphics person complained to HER manager, who then talked to my coordinator. So the graphics person couldn't even talk to my coordinator directly (and my coordinator grumbled about that to me, so apparently it's not that the graphics person wasn't allowed to talk to my coordinator, she weaseled out and didn't want to).

Basically, I think the graphics person is a whiny baby and is creating inefficiencies, but since I am the bottom of the hierarchy, I will make sure to not defile her inbox ever again and make extra work for my coordinator instead of just being goddamn efficient.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

Y'all, I am almost literally unable to do work that doesn't involve someone talking to me directly. Calls? I can participate in those. Actual self-directed work? Not happening.

I'm a journals coordinator, and that would annoy me. Waste of time; just answer the question.

Oh, I could tell my coordinator was annoyed at the graphics person when she emailed me to tell me about it. But, yanno, not my call.
