That looks very pretty, but amid the tropes and stereotypes I don't see much room for novelty, invention, twists, or humor. I'm not tempted to spend the money to see it in a theater.
I wonder what Stephen Colbert will have to say about it.

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Just came here to say I went to a screening of The Substance last night and it's a wild ride. Lots of body horror, which I absolutely hate, but I still enjoyed myself immensely. (Though I'm not sure "enjoyed" is even the right word.) And Demi Moore is really incredible. This is Coralie Fargeat's second movie and it's ambitious as hell. I didn't like it as much as her Revenge (2017), but that was one of my favorite movies of the 2010s so it would have been hard to top.
There's a movie that keeps turning up on TV - "Evolution" - David Duchovny, Orlando Jones and Julianne Moore (who's kind of wasted there). Basic story - meteor crashes to earth in Arizona? New Mexico? carrying alien protoplasm which evolves into various life forms, including at the end primates. It's kind of dumb but kind of fun (seriously - how could I not watch?). Fairly happy ending with huge product placement.
Aw, I remember when that came out. I don't think I saw it in the theater, rented it from Blockbuster, probably
I don't remember much about it, but I remember enjoying it!
Jacob Elordi cast as Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights, with Margot Robbie.
Anyone else here been to see My Old Ass?
I've seen it four times since October 4. Wednesday will make it five times.
Where is it streaming? It says Prime, but I don't see it there.
It's in the theatres still.
Ooh, actually showing near me! So many things I want to see do not, or not for very long.
