Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Too Much Gore is a high bar for me that it fell far short of

As long as the violence is wildly over the top (think the Kingsman movies), I am oddly fine with it. I just hate realistic violence. I had zero problem with Renfield ripping off a dude's arms at the shoulder and beating him with one of them, because that is super over the top.

I'm also starting to think I would watch Nicholas Hoult do just about anything, so that might have been a factor as well.

This is not quite me but I do think a major flaw with the film was spending too much time with the police storyline rather than Renfield and his issues.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

Just saw Polite Society today and it has got to be one of the most Buffista-esque movies of all time. It is so fun and stylish and bonkers and trope-y in the best way. It's about a teenage British-Pakistani girl who wants to be a stunt woman, and her sister who's marrying this guy who seems too good to be true. Lots of great fight scenes; I especially loved the ones with everyone in their gorgeous elaborate wedding finery. Highly recommended!

Posted in the Spoilers thread about the upcoming Batman movie that has the Flash in it.

We saw the Flash movie last night, and it was decent -- better than Batman v Superman and better than Justice League for sure (I only saw the original release of Justice League, not the Zack Snyder cut). Michael Keaton as Old Man Batman was a delight. I like Ezra Miller as the Flash (although they are a shitty person).

But it honestly suffers in comparison with the TV show, which already covered the topic of how Barry Allen needs to stop fucking up the timeline by running into the past. And as a multiverse movie, it's unfortunate that it's out at the same time as Across the Spider-Verse, because nothing comes close to Across the Spider-Verse. And the CGI is terrible.

Unrelated to the Flash, the trailer for Indiana Jones makes me want to see it entirely for Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

What did you think, Tom?

It was... OK. They gave away WAY too much in the trailers. I found Miller to be a little more annoying than you did.

I feel like I either didn't see the trailer(s), or immediately forgot them.

I found Miller to be a little more annoying than you did.

I didn't expect to like him as much as I did, so that was a nice surprise.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

Miller uses they/them pronouns, btw.
