Saw a preview of Dear Evan Hansen last night. My friend and I knew the basic plot going in, but not much other than that. We really enjoyed it. And had a good talk about depression and anxiety and growing up, etc. after.
That's not what making out sounds like -- unless I'm doing it wrong?

I had such a crappy day yesterday doing my taxes that I decided it was finally time to watch The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Well, that, and it's expiring from the Criterion Channel this month.
Technically more grotesque than gory, but the grotesquerie is profound and disturbing. It's more unsettling than vomitous if that makes sense.
This description was dead on, Hec. Glad I watched it though; it's nice to see where all those horror tropes came from. And it was perfect timing for my mood.
After a more stressful than planned birthday yesterday, I once again turned to 70s horror, finally watching The Wicker Man. While I'd probably rank it below Chainsaw, I agree with those who said it is another not-to-be-missed film from that original Criterion set. It's bonkers in the best way possible. I can' t believe they tried to remake it. Well, I can, but I'm not surprised it was a disaster.
I haven't quite gotten into Halloween viewing mode, but I think that when I do, I need to make an effort to see more of the classics from the 70s and 80s.

Oh, I've actually seen the original Wicker Man! Not the remake. I do still think about it sometimes, so I'm glad I saw it but I don't know that I have anything to say about it.

I kind of remember seeing The Wicker Man years ago, but don't have much to say about it. However, in holiday movies, I got the DVD on sale and watched Anna and the Apocalypse ... and now I'm earwormed with one of the songs.
