Yeah, this movie will hit particularly hard those who've had loved ones suffer the ravages of dementia. I should mention that, even though the subject matter is grim, the filmmaking is clever and dynamic and the movie really keeps you on your toes. It's not at all a depressing slog. As emotionally rough as it was, I was ultimately very glad to have watched it.

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
Oh, I believe it -- everything I've heard about it sounds amazing. I just don't have any interest in putting myself through it at this point.
I thought we were talking about the Trial of the Chicago. seven was just bad.
Vonnie, have you seen Druk / Another Round? Pete and I are considering watching it.
ION, the first images for the third movie in The Conjuring series have been released, and I am ridiculously excited. The movies are distillations of the trashy "based on a true story!" haunting and/or possession paperbacks I loved as a tween. The real-life Warrens? Scam artists and kinda awful. The movie version of the Warrens? Cuddly and loveable.

It's on my list to watch this weekend before the Oscar :) It's supposed to be really good. I think I'll hit this one plus "Collective", which is nominated for best documentary and is also on Hulu.
I cord-cut earlier this year and have been too lazy to get an antenna, so I probably won't get to watch the actual ceremony, which is this Sunday. Ah well. The highlights will be on Youtube later, no doubt.
Another Round is GREAT. And now I shall stomp-dance my way to the kitchen and make myself a Sazerac as movie Gods intended. (Why yes, I keep an absolutely enormous bottle of absinthe in my liquor cabinet, why do you ask)

Ha!

As is right and proper!
Those who didn't get enough of Sebastian Stan in the recent Disney+ series can find quite a bit more of him in Monday, which I saw this afternoon at the cinema. It got to the point in the narrative where I thought to myself, "they're going to have sex AGAIN?!? Don't these characters do anything else?"
It reminded me a lot of 9 Songs actually.
Yeah, I meant The Father. Both my parents passed from dementia (or with it anyway); it's all too close.
