Buffy. When I saw you stop the world from, you know, ending, I just assumed that was a big week for you. Turns out I suddenly find myself needing to know the plural of 'apocalypse.'

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

In the words of our founding namesake, those are good arms to have.

Just popping in to say that I'm still working on the 1920s mostly, but the MG's movie night last night was scheduled to watch Sorcerer so naturally I insisted we had to watch The Wages of Fear beforehand since I hadn't yet seen that either and, damn, if those aren't two fantastic films. Different movies in similar shells. Sorcerer was probably less tense than it would have been if I hadn't watched them back to back, but I still preferred it slightly. In fact, I don't get how this flopped at the box office at all.

In any case, I've been meaning to see them for ages, but now that I have I can't believe I waited so long. If that's you, don't be me!

I still haven't seen them! And I love Clouzot's Diabolique and I have the DVD of his unfinished L'Enfer.

Don't be me, Hec! What am I here for if not for you to learn from my mistakes?

I have yet to see a Clouzot film I haven't liked. If you haven't seen it, L'Assassin habite au 21 (The Murderer Lives at Number 21) is another fave. It's a lighter take on his Quai des Orfèvres or Le Corbeau mystery style.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Universal to make a Munsters movie with Rob Zombie as director.

My level of DO NOT WANT is pretty high, but I've never liked any of Zombie's movies.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I don't think I've seen any of his movies. Because they don't sound like something I'd like. But maybe he'll change things up for this?

Not holding out a lot of hope for it, but you never know

There was that great Munsters pilot, Mockingbird Lane (2012) by Bryan Fuller with Eddie Izzard that I wish dearly had gotten picked up: [link]

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I wasn't sold on Jerry O'Connell (in no prosthetics or monster makeup) as Herman, but the rest of that was awesome.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

Oscar noms are out: [link]

I've seen less than half of the Best Picture nominees. Guess I've got some work to do! Been meaning to watch "Judas and the Black Messiah" and I see now that HBO Max took it off its streaming lineup just in time for its multiple Oscar nominations. Wahh.

Surprised and pleased about multiple nominations for "Minari" (I think the kerfuffle about it being relegated to the Foreign Language category in Golden Globes actually helped its Oscar chances?) And how weird is that a slow-moving drama about van dwellers in American West made by a Chinese woman is the front-runner in the race?

Honest to God though, the nom that made me the happiest might just be "Husavik" for Best Song from "Eurovision Song Contest." I love that stupid movie, and the song slaps in all its cheesy sincerity. Always chuffed when the song in question is actually featured in the film/important to the plot, and not just tagged on during the end credit.
