When I was eight, I regularly argued that Return of the Jedi was the best Star Wars because "A New Hope has a death star, Empire Strikes Back has a lightsaber duel, but Return of the Jedi has BOTH!"

I haven't seen ROS yet, but my impression from the internet is that JJ Abrams is me, at eight.

I tried to go to Little Women on NYE and when I got there for a 3:50 showing, everything but the front row was sold out. Yay women-led and -made movies doing phenomenally!

There are lovely STAR WARS WOOO! moments in RoS, and I loved having the main three finally together, but overall, what a hot mess!

Yes, Stormpilot is absolutely happening. (am I the only one who wondered whether Hux become the mole because Kylo wasn't hate-fucking with him anymore ?)

Now there are these weird rumors of Disney overriding JJ's creative decisions, and some mystical 3-hour cut of the movie. It's like the revenge of the Snyder cut.

You've got friends to have good times with. When you need to share the trauma of a badly-written book with someone, that's when you go to family.

Today I drove to Tacoma (about 60 miles away) to see Little Women in an arthouse cinema with my best friend Sara, and the place was packed! We snickered and cried and leaned on each other, and after it was over we said "I'm so happy that I saw this with you!"

. . . and then we played "How many Farrow & Ball paint colors/Bradbury and Bradbury wallpapers did you recognize?" before moving on to squee about the costumes, because that is part of our friendship.
