I was uneasy when I saw their version of The Joker, then heard about how the actor was getting into character. I like my Joker to be the witty, intelligent, bat(heh)shit crazy guy in the natty purple suit.
"Look at this rain! I could just kill the weather man. Hm, that's a thought."
I mean, at least the got The Wall right.
I would see it just for The Wall, except...no. I'd rather see Ghostbusters again. And I still need to see Star Trek.
The more I see how much of a clusterfuck the Warner/DC movies have been, and just how mediocre the Fox/X-Men movies have been (Deadpool excepted), I am just amazed at the job that Kevin Feige has done at Marvel. I mean, even the worst of the Marvel films have this veneer of professionalism that the other movie studios can't seem to match.
Yay! I am actually happy to have an excuse to skip Suicide Squad. Sounds like whoever is on top has no idea how to make this franchise thing work. The only thing I'm concerned about is the Wonder Woman movie, which I really, really want not to suck for obvious reasons.
As I said elsewhere, Wonder Woman managed to be awesome even when surrounded by a glowering silent Superman, murderous xenophobic Batman, Lex Luthor doing a Jim Carrey impression and a cave troll stolen from Fellowship of the Ring. In the hands of a competent director I feel good about her movie's chances.
Some butthurt DC fanboys have mounted a petition to shut down Rotten Tomatoes for the bad reviews of Suicide Squad: [link]
I've been giggling over this for solid 10 minutes now. Do they even know how RT works?
Oh, well, if they have a PETITION...
Holy cow,
Don't Think Twice
is terrific.
I talked to one person who saw Suicide Squad and said it wasn't that bad. Of course he said the comic book wasn't that great either so he figured it was on par with that.
I am dying to see that, Lisah! Love me some Birbigs.
