I think you can see all the short docs online, various platforms though.

I only found 2 of the animated shorts online and 1 of those I fell into by guessing a password.

Thrive to spite them

I haven't watched many of the Oscar fils. Last night we started watching The Ballad of Buster Scruggs but I stopped. I wasnt in the mood for that much death and despair.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Msbelle, I figured we can find some things online, but I still prefer the movie theatre whenever possible.

I really loved Free Solo, but then I'm a climber. It helps if you know Honnold survives while you're watching, I think.

Yeah, I was glad I'd seen him doing press for the film's release. Still very stressful to watch though!

This year's crop of shorts was SO dark. Even the animated ones were mostly bummers!

Bohemian Rhapsody was just not very good.

Right?? I walked out of the screening with three other people and we all agreed it was an okay by-the-numbers biopic with a pretty good performance at the center. It was FINE, but not Win All The Things amazing.

I sat down to watch Snow White and the Huntsman tonight, and I know it's a fairytale, and I'm still utterly gobsmacked at the idea that 50 heavy cavalry in a fucking line could gallop across a beach and hope to capture a fortified castle.

Do directors on these movies never hire a tactician?

brillig

I was more impressed by the evil queen's wardrobe in that movie.

That was pretty impressive!

I was also impressed by the lineup of British actors playing the dwarfs: Ray Winstone, Ian McShane, and Bob Hoskins...
