This is so nice. Having everyone together for my birthday. Of course, you could smash in all my toes with a hammer and it will still be the bestest Buffy Birthday Bash in a big long while.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

I saw some news items that Aquaman is pretty good - not great, but better than DC's been doing.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

I am so damn excited about Spider-Verse. AND I get to see it with my brother, so that's going to be extra fantastic. (And our spouses will shake their heads and commiserate about how they married such enormous nerds.)

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I am looking forward to Aquaman more than any DC movie thus far, with the exception of Wonder Woman which was kind of more of a political position than movie-going excitement...

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

My Dad and I already making plans to see Spiderverse with my son once it comes out.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I saw the unfinished first 30 minutes of Spider-Verse at NYCC, and it was amazeballs. I can't wait.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

Into the Spider-Verse just won the Best Animated Feature in the New York Film Critics Circle Awards. Bodes well for its chances comes Oscar time, even though NYFCC skews less mainstream. I don't think we have a runaway front-runner this year like Coco from last year in this category. Like, Incredibles 2 did monster box office but critical reception was kinda lukewarm.

I really like those winners, some surprising and unexpected. Regina Hall is fantastic in Support the Girls, which came and went in our tiny neighborhood repertory theater in a blink. It's a gem of a film and I'm glad it's being recognized. It should be available on streaming soon, I'd think. Highly recommended.

I keep hearing amazing things about the documentary that won, Mind the Gap, which is streaming on Hulu, I believe. It beat out the Mr. Rogers movie, RBG, Free Solo and Three Identical Strangers. Quite a year for docs.

And none of us deserving the cruelty or the grace -- Leonard Cohen

Mind the Gap was fantastic! Highly recommended.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Aquaman looks good. I'm afraid I haven't seen much DC lately, aside from Wonderwoman. Do we know who the woman with the extraordinarily red hair is in the trailer? [link]

That's Mera, who plays the same role as Trinity in the Matrix, i.e. the more skilled and powerful female character who trains the protagonist, and is written out of the third act.
