I saw Three Billboards last weekend, and it displaced The Shape of Water as probably the best movie I've seen this year. I definitely want McDormand to win Best Actress.

The trailers are selling it that way, but having seen it...nope. She's not that kind of spy, and it's not that kind of movie.
I would recommend it to fans of The Americans with the caveat that it is VERY VERY LONG. Runtime was 2 hours 20 minutes and I was lucky enough to see it without trailers.

Ex Machina was such an interesting film that grew on me more the longer I thought about it, and it sounds like Alex Garland has another thoughtful genre film on his resume. Someone also twitted yesterday that this is a movie that's better watched by oneself, not in a rowdy crowd of people.
