But Stephen Metcalf gets on my last nerve with his long-winded intellectual posturing more often than not. Like, I'd hit "jump 30 sec" button on my podcast app several times and he would still be going on and on and on....
Ugh, he is the woooooorst.
'Out Of Gas'
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

I love PCHH. I seriously feel like they are my friends. Linda Holmes seems like the best version of myself. I am frankly more serious about books and tv than film. I love Slate Culture Gabfest because I really like June Thomas. I will listen to anything if I like the pekple, though I even listen to slates parenting podcast.
I love The Next Picture Show! It took me awhile to realize the Dissolve podcast had reformed so I missed a lot of the earlier episodes. I don't know Filmspotting. I'll have to check that out.
Filmspotting and The Next Picture Show are in the same "podcast family," whatever it means. Filmspotting has apparently been running for 10+ years and the hosts have their little routines and in-jokes, which are only occasionally annoying. :) The Next Picture Show people occasionally come on as a guest for special episodes like year-end top 10 films and those eps are like a big party.
I might have a look at some of the other podcasts you've mentioned! 'Cause I clearly don't listen to enough film podcasts already.

United in Metcalf hate! *high-fives Jesse* To give him some credit, I think he knows that he often comes across like a pompous windbag, but it's like he can't help himself. I like Dana Stevens and Julia Turner a lot! If only they could ditch him and get one of their guests in that third chair instead. SIGH.
Stephen Metcalf is a friend of a friend, which I always remember about three seconds before opening my mouth to state my opinion of his podcast in front of her.
The one I am listening to now has June Thomas and Dan Kois, both of whom I really like

Agreed and agreed. I would love June, but they should bring in Aisha Harris or someone else not white.

Haha!
I guess this isn't the podcast thread, huh?
Does Alamo own Moviepass?
I thought they were partners, but maybe I'm misremembering. Regardless, I don't see how it's a sustainable business model so I avoid it anyway, like Uber. But again, I see a lot for free and can also go during the day when it's much cheaper.
I've been holding off on Moviepass because I'm skeptical and have no smartphone, but I see 2-3 movies a month, mostly at my local Malco theater that apparently accepts it. Might be worth looking into if it's card-based and I'd just be skipping the look-up-showtimes/reserve-tickets-via-phone aspect.
Cinemark's CEO contributed roughly $10k in support of Proposition 8 in California, so it'll be a cold day in Hell before that company sees a penny of my money even if the movie club becomes applicable to my local theaters.
Moviepass has stopped working in at least a few AMC theaters: [link]
I finally saw The Shape of Water. It was delightful. I loved all the detailed visual elements. It's probably a movie that would reward rewatching, although I don't know that I'll do so in the theater.
