Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

I am so sorry, Sara. That is a lousy welcome home. I'm glad you were able to take today to recover.

-t, I'd do the same thing. It would bug me for the entire day, to the exclusion of being able to do anything else.

Happy birthday, Zen! It can only get better from this point, because cleaning the bathrooms definitely does suck.

Now I want tacos.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Happy Birthday, Zen and Kiba! May it hold something more festive than cleaning bathrooms.

Sounds like a very good call, taking the day, sara.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Happy birthday to Zen and Kiba!

Baba ghanoush was fairly simple, provided you have a food processor and a grill or oven of some sort. I roasted the eggplant whole. My oven has a grill, so I used that. Turn it a few times and roast it until the skin is black, so you get a nice smoky flavor. Let it cool a bit, then peeled it and plunked it in the food processor with a whole lot of garlic and about 1/4 cup of tahini. (I used TJs tahini from the refrigerator case.) When that was all mixed smooth I added lemon juice and salt and gave it another zip in the processor. And that was it. I added a bit of olive oil when I served it, but it tastes good even without it.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

That's the best, Burrell, when you find a not too complicated way of making something that's super tasty to you.

I don't like eggplant, so when I do try to make anything that has it as an ingredient I have to do a lot of extra stuff (deseeding, peeling, salting for some period of time and I want to say pressing out excess water?, and then grilling or whatever) to try to make it palatable. Mostly I don't bother.

To add to the comical, it's the season for maggots in the recycling bin. Was wondering about the fly carcasses in the kitchen. (Not neighbors' fault. Even I forget that this time of year you have to be super diligent.)

Happy birthday to Zen and Kiba!

This week I'm sitting in the same area where my new desk will be. People bring their dogs to work. Sales is far, far away. I just had a long discussion with a dude about comic cons. The commute is long, but it's on a nice bus with wifi and A/C and sometimes power outlets. I'm feeling pretty good about making the decision to transfer out here.

I may change my mind once I start viewing apartments, but hey!
