I am tired, and a lot of stuff on my to do list remains undone, but I fed myself today and have breakfast and lunch made for tomorrow. It's taking a long time for the water to come up to flan temperature, but I don't have to do anything about that, just wait. I should wash more dishes and I should really do some laundry, but tired.

God, I'm wiped out.
I hiked 8 miles with my sister this morning -- breaking in our new hiking boots -- and then came home to empty my kitchen. That was all afternoon, and now I have no food to eat other than some frozen stuff, so I had a slice of pizza from the guys around the corner, and a large beer. I did at least get a bunch of stuff to Good Will, but seriously, not nearly enough. And my garage is full of boxes.
Demolition begins tomorrow, and that will be exciting!
That is exciting!
I just went and bought all the things at TJs, including Jesse's biltong jerky.
Speaking of the centrality of Jesse to all of our lives, Matilda has been asked to join the Church Choir (which makes me think of Jesse).
She was given a binder to hold her hymns which she promptly decorated with cute animals cut out from her National Geo for Kids. Each animal has a thought balloon which says "I love music time!" except the Koala who is hugging her eucalyptus tree and says "I love my log!" Also the hedgehog says "I love music time" and also "I love fashion!" (because it is wearing little booties).
"I love my log!"
It's better than bad! It's good!

Gosh, that's adorable.
I've made the startling discovery that most of my shoes are the wrong size. Specifically, I need to be wearing W/C width instead of M/B. Now I can get rid of all these shoes without regrets, and start looking for shoes that don't make my feet hurt.
It's better than bad! It's good!
Heh, and I was heading towards Twin Peaks.
Aw. But surely there is someone here who is actually in a church choir, unlike me, who just shows up for holidays and funerals.
Men. Men is who does that. My dad limbed our row of white pines that way, and it took several years, but it left them topheavy and unstable in high wind from a certain direction, and one by one, they all broke, or toppled.
Not all of us would do that. It enraged me when the new owners trimmed all the branches up to the 30 ft mark on a stand of hundred-year oaks along the West face of my previous apartment. It completely eliminated the afternoon shade for the units in two buildings and removed the visual barrier between them and the rehab center across the street. Coming on the end of a hot, dry summer it was a miracle they didn't lose any of the trees (which probably would have then been toppled against their historic building by the periodic straightline winds).
I would be an inveterate hedge pruner, if I weren't so lazy. And hate the sound of hedge trimmers, lawnmowers. etc.
