And none of us deserving the cruelty or the grace -- Leonard Cohen

Poor guy.

Yeah. I need to remember that just because I'm feeling anguish about causing someone else anguish, it doesn't change the fact that the reasons behind choosing the candidate that we did are sound. Also, that what I told him was true: that he was one of the very top few candidates among 87 applicants for the job, and that it was a very tough decision. That I will gladly recommend him for other jobs and even help seek other openings out. Though all of that seems like a bunch of lies when all you're hearing is, "You didn't get the job."

Anyway, thanks. I finished the last season of K&P. I'm going to miss that show! I also got my bangs trimmed into a more severe, straight-across, symmetrical style yesterday, which were proclaimed to be "rad" by the receptionist at the hair salon. Now that my bangs are so symmetrical, I'm noticing that the rest of my face? head? is not. I'm just going to have to make peace with that.

For about a year I have been pretty strict with shutting off my computer at 10PM.

I really need to figure out how to make myself do this.

Our wings are not tired.

It isn't easy, but I try and remind myself that nothing is that urgent after 10 that can't wait until morning. It doesn't always work. I do have my Nook in bed, but won't read email or browse on it after 10. Only reading allowed. It helps to set limits even though my mother thinks it should be 7PM or something.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I finished up the grading a little before and was in bed by midnight and up again at 6:30.

Squish these a little closer together and you have my week. But I don't have kiddoes and such to cope with. Or a migraine. Hope you are feeling better today.

I just really need to turn off the computer/TV and get into bed at 10pm. When I do, I start getting sleepy pretty quickly. If only I could get a Wallace & Gromit contraption that would turn off everything & fling me into bed...

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I aim to go to bed at 9, which often means starting to head that way 8:30 or so. Lately I have been getting sleepy around 7:30. Sleeping from sunset to sunrise would be the best, I don't have any particular rules about screens, though. I sometimes think I should, but that would take more discipline that I seem to have available, lately.

Today I am going from 3 ibuprofen to 2! Seems to be going okay so far. Yay!

Yes, my life is that exciting.

I suspect I usually get more sleep than all y'all. But I need it! My precious....

I think I'm on the high end of how much I need--if I consistently get less than 8 hours I am a lot more prone to migraines.

Our wings are not tired.

8 hours sleep would be awesome, but my goal is to at least have restful low stimulus time. As in off computer and work stuff. I have convinced myself that reclining in bed reading is just as useful to my brain as sleeping. Don't tell me otherwise, please.

In a perfect world, I would get 9 - 10 hours of sleep, because I've been running on a deficit for so long that my body is constantly trying to catch up.

In the real world, I can get by on 6 hours. I'll be slow and a little cranky, but I can do it.
