Jayne: Captain, can you stop her from bein' cheerful, please? Mal: I don't believe there is a power in the 'verse that can stop Kaylee from being cheerful. Sometimes you just wanna duct tape her mouth and dump her in the hold for a month.

Though they were occupied by the Germans for a few years during the Reich. But that's not very royal.

edit: The Isle of Man was occupied by the Germans, not those boots. Though it could work.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Though they were occupied by the Germans for a few years during the Reich. But that's not very royal.

You might be thinking of the Channel Islands there. I don't think the Isle of Man would've been accessible.

(Bit of trivia: the Isle of Man is not part of the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth or the European Union.)

It's not?? My faith in my knowledge is gravely shaken. Is the Queen not on their stamps? My stamp collection is not easily accessible.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Manx cats, right? Got their tails caught when Noah slammed the door on the ark. When they got off at the Isle of Man? Don't remember.

I like the first boots best.

I think the voice I've been hearing "kiddo" in for this whole discussion has been Lauren Bacall's. Sounds good coming from her.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Oh, y'all, I am at the stage of tired where I have no idea what I meant to post when I started reading fifty posts ago. I'm working on about six hours of sleep over the last two nights and twenty-seven hours of driving. And I only ate a chicken salad sandwich today. (Hurry up, pizza! Can I just say how enamored I am of the Dominoes status bar? My pizza just got put in the car.) But! I did the thing I came to do, and it was great. And tomorrow I get to hang out with my absolute favorite professor from college! And then Nashville, yay!

I wonder what I was going to say? I'm sure it was really profound.

health~ma to the appropriate spouses & siblings! Both of those sound scary, but hope will heal up well.

Ooh, El Pollo Lico has a Mexican Cobb Salad. Maybe I should get one tomorrow to find out what's in it. Research.

Oh, yeah, right, kiddo! I totally say kiddo. I use it to make a distinction between any putative biological children and my students, though. My students are my kiddoes. I don't have any kids. My students will remain kiddoes until they and/or I die, though, so people who are not old like me can just suck it up and deal with it.
