Zoe: Is there any way I'm gonna get out of this with honor and dignity? Wash: You're pretty much down to ritual suicide, lambie-toes.

A PAC, set up to finance attack ads against Seattle's Socialist City Council woman Kshama Sawant has apparently decided to call itself "Neighbors for Banks". According to Sawant's campaign managers this is a real PAC, with officers from the banking community not a satirical hoax. [link]

Part of me still wonders if the Yes Men have outdone themselves in terms of verisimilitude; until exposed as a hoax, I'm going assume this is real.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I haven't watched this week or last week's Scandal yet, but I'm confident I can agree that Fitz is the worst

Yeah, I figure that's not spoilery because I would have posted it after watching any episode of Scandal ever.

While I was at the vet er last week, they had Scandal on the check in tv and the tech and I bonded over how Mellie was our favorite character because she's so awful but true to her awful code.

Off to Marathon day market! Then cheering.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Need to go pick up prescription refills, and would like to make my monthly trip to the comic book store. Otherwise, try to clear some stuff from the DVR.

Dentist, check. Library, check. Luckily my mother got her car back from the shop, so we don't have to take the bus to see my father. After that, it will be all cooking and lazing. Maybe some cleaning, I guess.

I recently canceled my TiVo season pass for scandal. I stopped watching the last few episodes at the end of last season, because Mellie was about the only character I still liked or cared about.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

apparently decided to call itself "Neighbors for Banks"

Guess that sounded more homey than "Bankers for Banks"

Air conditioning = Good; Grading on the weekend = Bad

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I think I am accepting that I will not get anything much done today. I tried to sleep in but I am still tired, and the rainy weather, while very pleasant, is not very motivating. I'm definitely blowing off the 5k i had scheduled for this evening. This is the one I signed up for with my co-workers and they aren't going either - there's a similar one in March that is closer, so we'll try for that one (it's one thing to maintain motivation for the actual 5k, another to motivate to drive an hour and half or so to get there, pay extra to pick up your packet, pay for parking, run the 5k, and then drive the hour and a half or so home in the middle of the night, only some of which we knew about when we signed up). Anyway, cleaning off the DVR is my main goal for the day at this point, any other productivity is gravy.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

If Altzheimers is caused by a fungus, that would be very promising, treatment-wise. I hope something comes of it.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

That study showed that Alzheimer's was associated with a fungus, but not necessarily caused by it. Since other studies have shown that there's a pretty strong genetic component to it, too, then the fungus can't be the only thing causing it. Maybe some relation of "If you have this gene, then you're susceptible to this fungus" or some combination like that.
