On the positive side of life, we hadn't received any Halloween party invitations yet (there's at least one friend-of-a-friend with a GIANT house who has a huge shindig every year to which friends-of-friends get invited), BUT we got the invitation today. Woo!
So that means I can pull the trigger on buying a long red wig and foofy blouse to be Hot Topic Katrina (I actually have everything else I need for the costume in my closet, to my slight chagrin) and Tim can start growing his facial hair to be Skinny Jeans Ichabod Crane (he has EVERYTHING he needs for that costume, because it's regular 21st-century clothes [yes, he owns skinny jeans] and his long flowing locks pulled back in a ponytail). Yippee!

I think I even have an emerald pendant -- not as big as Katrina's, but I'm not really shooting for screen-accurate cosplay here, just a Halloween costume mostly for my own amusement.
I'm at the dentist getting my permanent down. Jury's still out on the root canal, but I stupidly forgot to bring my crocheting and my iPad with me. Waiting room fail.
That's such a genius couple's costume, Tep!

What are we, chopped liver?

What are we, chopped liver?
Ha! Fair point.
Mmm, chopped liver.
Permanent crown achieved, I go back for a general exam in a couple of weeks we'll reassess how the broken tooth is doing then. Came back to the office and saw my co-worker and her son in the parking lot - he's a little banged up but no broken bones and no internal bleeding, he told me himself he feels fine and was carrying crutches rather than using them. Whew!
Timelies all!
Urgh. Took 25 minutes to get off NIH campus, because everybody was trying to leave from the same exit.(Normally it would take 5-10 minutes) A water main broke on the major road on the other side of NIH, so no-one could go that way. Once I got off campus it was normal traffic.
That all sounds good, -t!
Glad to hear he got out of it relatively intact, -t!
Can I ask for some ~ma, please? My good friend, Gabe, whom I'm staying with in NYC, is in the ER with a pulmonary embolism. He has multiple blood clots in both lungs. They are admitting him to the hospital tonight, as soon as there's a bed. It looks like he'll be in the hospital for about three days or so. Terry (his husband, my BFF) and I are with him and waiting, and he's conscious, but very short of breath. We are trying to be calm so that he stays calm. I think he will be okay, but any good thoughts would be appreciated.
