I'm in a downstairs apartment, so solar tubes and skylights aren't an option now, but I'm definitely adding solar tubes to my "if I ever get a house" list.
In less fun news, I found out yesterday that a former coworker has been murdered. She was one of my favorite people at my previous job, straightforward and competent in an office notable for a large proportion of . . . otherwise. I'd kinda hoped to keep in touch with her after leaving, maybe build a non-work friendship, but I never got around to making that happen. And now her dickwad ex-boyfriend has killed her in what looks like a murder suicide. I want to punch every man with a trilby* and then retire to a lesbian separatist commune.

I always thought the commune part of the deal would be hard on introverts. So from my perspective we have the best of both.

Say, Steph, are you familiar with Belt Magazine? [link] It's about living in the rust belt, and it has material on three Ohio cities. While there's a bit on the challenges of living in the area, there's a lot on the reasons people stay. I'm enjoying the Detroit area stuff, myself.
